Who invented Wordley?

Software Engineer and Artist josh wardle Created “Wordley” with my partner during COVID-19 lockdown Palak ShahHe studied media arts at Royal Holloway, University of London, then earned a Master of Fine Arts in digital art. Before “Verdle” became a global sensation, Josh worked at Reddit and Pinterest.

The game’s title, “Verdle”, is based on Josh’s last name. According to The Verge, Josh revealed that he was thinking about naming the game “Mr.” Bugs’ Wordy Nugz.”

“It’s true: I was going to call ‘Wardley’ Mr. Bugs Wordy Nuggs,” he previously shared during a stage presentation. “If I had called the game Mr. Bugs, I think it would not have been successful.”

When he was developing the prototype of “Verdle”, Josh only showed it to close friends and family.

“I was trying to do something that was authentic to me. “I was trying to make something for someone I loved,” Josh previously explained, according to The Verge. “It just so happened that a bunch of other people liked it.”

Josh advised other innovators to follow his path and avoid copying inventions like his.

“Don’t try to make a ‘wordle’.” Find something you’re passionate about that’s meaningful to you,” he suggests. “And then everything else will follow from that.”
