Who invented Wordley?
Josh Wardley, A software engineer and artist, he is the mastermind behind “Verdle”. Wardle started working on the prototype years ago, but he and his partner, Palak Shah, This game was developed during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Josh studied Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in Digital Art from the University of Oregon. After attending university, Josh worked on Reddit and Pinterest.
Speaking at a presentation in mid-2024, Josh explained how he developed “Verdle”.
According to The Verge, he said, “I was trying to do something that was authentic to me.” “I was trying to make something for someone I loved. It just so happened that a bunch of other people started liking it.”

“It was a very obvious decision for me to sell the game,” he said. “Because of the success of ‘Wordle’ it became clear that I could make a living if I wanted to. But there were a lot of things about running a game business that I wouldn’t enjoy. And it became so clear to me that this was something I Wasn’t something I wanted any part of.”
